We are pleased to announce that the latest version of the Polish language model Bielik 2.6 is now available as part of our CloudFerro Sherlock platform.

This is another step in the development of Polish AI technologies, which would not be possible without close collaboration between academic teams and foundations. Bielik 2.6 is the result of a fruitful cooperation between the faculty of the Academic Computer Centre Cyfronet AGH and the Speakleash Foundation.

Academic Computer Centre Cyfronet AGH is the longest-established and one of the largest supercomputing and networking centres in Poland, operating Poland's fastest supercomputers as well as very high-capacity data storage systems. SpeakLeash (Polish: Spichlerz) foundation, in turn, is a new initiative to create Polish large language models (LLMs) for natural language generation and processing. The aim of the foundation is to build and catalogue existing datasets and build a new one to provide scientists and researchers with the state-of-the-art research opportunities on Polish language modelling.

The collaboration of those two entities ensured that appropriate computing power was used to create the model, and that the SpeakLeash team was supported with necessary expertise and scientific knowledge, which guaranteed the success of this joint project.

The latest version of the model introduces several important improvements:

  • Function calling - the model can now interact with external tools, agents and interfaces
  • Expanded training dataset - improving the quality of generated responses
  • Feedback-based optimisations – implemented on the basis of feedback from real users
