Financing of cloud services on CREODIAS for scientists
The research community can now receive full financing for cloud services provided on CREODIAS.eu platform.
CloudFerro, the platform operator, has been registered as a qualified OCRE supplier for all European countries.
OCRE (Open Clouds for Research Environments) is a platform that can finance the use of cloud processing in scientific research projects.
Thanks to OCRE initiatives, whose aim is to foster cloud adoption, scientists from European research institutions can now obtain full funding for cloud services for their projects. The combined OCRE budget is 9,5 million EUR, split into 2 areas: 5 million EUR for cloud computing services, and 4,5 million EUR for EO services.
What exactly can be financed from OCRE?
Members of The Research Community can benefit from full funding for infrastructure-cloud services (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) and the adoption of digital Earth Observation (EO) services in their scientific and research projects. OCRE can also cover the costs of cloud computing services offered on CREODIAS platform, and in addition, specific services of Earth Observation.
CloudFerro has been a trusted supplier of cloud computing services for many renowned European institutions such as the European Space Agency ESA, ECMWF, EUMETSAT, or German Space Agency DLR. The company provides and operates cloud computing platforms for storing and processing big data sets.
