Senior Python Engineer
We’re looking for engineers to help build a sovereign European cloud platform: an alternative to the global hyperscalers. We’re creating a complete open-source PaaS stack built on Kubernetes, spanning serverless computing, managed databases, MLOps, monitoring and observability.
You’ll join a team laying the platform’s foundations. We work with a strong sense of ownership: the architectural decisions we make today will shape the platform for years to come. It’s an opportunity to have a real say in the future of European cloud infrastructure.
The role
You’ll build and develop managed services at the heart of our PaaS platform, such as Database as a Service (DBaaS), Registry as a Service (RaaS) and MLOps as a Service. Following a you build it, you own it approach, you’ll take responsibility for your services from Kubernetes integration through APIs and documentation.
Your work will influence how customers build and run applications on the platform. You’ll be joining a growing team at an early stage, with plenty of scope to take ownership and grow with it.
What will be your tasks?
- Develop components that power our PaaS services.
- Design solutions for multi-tenant environments and large-scale systems.
- Work with the Product Manager to turn business needs into technical solutions.
- Build prototypes and proofs of concept for new ideas.
- Improve existing code and implement new components.
- Make technical decisions with security, scalability, reliability and maintainability in mind.
- Keep code quality high through reviews, automated testing, refactoring and sound engineering practices.
- Investigate complex issues across PaaS services, shared services and cloud infrastructure.
- Collaborate with other engineering teams.
- Create and maintain documentation and technical standards.
We expect from you:
- Very strong Python skills and hands-on experience with at least one framework, such as FastAPI, Flask or Django.
- A solid understanding of REST API design, including CRUD operations, error handling, data validation and versioning.
- Experience building persistence layers with PostgreSQL and Redis, including data modelling and migrations.
- Experience building distributed solutions for multi-tenant environments and large-scale systems.
- The Kubernetes skills to deploy, configure and troubleshoot your own service independently.
- Confidence using AI-assisted development tools, such as Claude Code or Copilot, as part of your everyday workflow.
- The ability to take ownership of a solution from the initial idea and design through to a working production system.
An additional advantage will be:
- Experience with Go. Strong knowledge of Linux, Kubernetes and cloud environments.
- Experience with asynchronous Python programming (asyncio) and messaging systems such as RabbitMQ or Kafka.
- Experience containerising applications with Docker and building CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with observability practices, including structured logging, metrics and distributed tracing.
- Hands-on experience analysing PostgreSQL performance and query execution plans.
- Full-stack engineering experience.
