Satellite Data Engineer
What will be your tasks?
- Building a backend to systems and services responsible for downloading, indexing and processing satellite imagery for clients such as the European Space Agency and EUMETSAT.
We are looking for developers who:
- Have min. 5 years programming experience in commercial or scientific research projects related to mass processing of satellite data; processing in AWS cloud environments, CREODIAS, etc. will be an advantage
- have knowledge of satellite and spatial data, including raster and vector data formats such as netcdf, hdf, ZARR, geotiff, COG, SHP, geoparquet, etc.
- are familiarized with satellite image processing tools: SNAP, GDAL, dedicated libraries in Python or R, etc.
- know how to catalogue satellite data (e.g. STAC) is welcome
- have a degree in computer science, geoinformatics, geodesy and cartography, geophysics, geography or a related subject
- can write a readable and efficient code (preferred language: Python or willing to learn);
- have a good foundation in algorithms and data structures;
- have knowledge of SQL;
- have knowledge of Linux;
- have experience of writing unit tests in accordance with TDD;
- are ready to continuously develop and update their knowledge;
- can comfortable communicating in English;
- are ready to work hybrid from our office in Warsaw.

- on a day-to-day basis we use: Python3.8+, SQLAlchemyDjango, DjangoRestFramework, PostgreSQL, Redis, RabbitMQ;
- our Software Development department consists of nearly 50 developers, testers, analysts and devops;
- we rely on tools: Kubernetes, Tanka, ArgoCD;
- automation plays an important role in our work;
- our monitoring is based on Prometheus + ELK;
- we practice Code Review, CI/CD, good practices, Testing;
- we work on Linux;
- we work based on Scrum/Agile;
- we use tools: Git, Confluence, Jira.
