CloudFerro launches cold object storage on WAW4-1

CloudFerro has launched a new cold object storage service on its WAW4-1 cloud region. This new offering is designed to meet the growing demand for economical, long-term storage of infrequently accessed data.
Cold object storage provides a highly scalable and cost-efficient solution for customers who need to store large volumes of data that do not require immediate access. Fully compatible with the S3 API, the service offers seamless integration into existing workflows, enabling users to archive and retrieve data with ease. It addresses the challenges of many customers, from research institutions to satellite data providers, who need to store massive datasets that must be preserved for years but are accessed only occasionally. Cold object storage gives clients a secure, EU-compliant, and economical way to manage this data at scale.
Why use cold object storage from CloudFerro?
- Lower costs - ideal for large data volumes, offered at significantly reduced prices compared to standard storage options - just 0,01 EUR per 1GB per month*
- S3 compatibility: customers can integrate the service easily using familiar tools and interfaces
- No hidden fees: data retrieval and API operations are included in the price - no additional charges apply
- EU compliance: data is stored securely in the EU and adheres to local and European data protection regulations
- Ceph-powered reliability: built on the proven Ceph platform for robust data durability and scalability.
Use Cases:
- Earth observation: archiving petabytes of satellite imagery for long-term analysis
- Scientific research: storing experimental or simulation datasets used over extended research cycles
- Enterprise backup: maintaining secure backups and historical data sets with low access frequency
- Regulatory compliance: keeping financial, legal, or governmental records readily available but out of active storage.
Cold object storage is now available to all CloudFerro users in the WAW4-1 region. Buckets can be created through the CloudFerro GUI or programmatically via the S3-compatible API and CLI tools.
